How To Share MTN, GLO and AIRTEL Data

Share Mtn, Glo, and Airtel data across different mobile users using USSD codes. MTN recently launched a Data Gifting service that allows users to share data with family and friends. In essence, you can use the service to send and buy data bundles for your other smartphones, modems, and tablets.

How to share Data on MTN

On your mobile device, dial *131*phone number * data amount#

e.g. *131*080……..*20#. You can also dial *131# and select the Gift Data option. After which, you follow the prompt.

Buying Data

To buy data for a friend using MTN, you can simply dial *131# and follow the prompt messages.

To buy a specific bundle for a user, dial *131*Bundle Activation Code*Beneficiary’s Phone number#

How to Share Data on Airtel Network

Airtel uses two different options to share data. To share data on your airtel mobile network, dial *141# and select option number 5 (gift or share data), after you will be prompted another option which requires you to change your PIN and select from two options

1. Me2u : This option allows you to share data from a data bundle you recently purchased. In other words,  I can purchase data worth 500MB and then transfer 100MB to a friend.
2. Data Gifting : This option implies purchasing a full data bundle for a loved one ; data bundles in this case refers to all Airtel data bundle plans and android data bundles.

In order to prevent unauthorized persons from transferring data from random Airtel enabled device, a pin is required before you can share data.

Also, when you use the Data sharing/gifting for the first time, you will be required to change your pin from the default to any pin of your choice.

How to Share Data on Glo Network

On the Glo network, you can buy a data bundle and have your wife and kids connected to the bundle. Anyone you share data bundle with will be notified via SMS.

To ADD people to your share network dial *127*01*Friends number# or Send “Share [friend’s number]” to 127.
e.g. Dial *127*01*0805XXXXXXX# or Send Share 0805XXXXXXX to 127.

To REMOVE people from sharing, dial *127*02*[friend’s number]# OR Send “Remove [friend’s number]” to 127
e.g. Dial *127*02*0805XXXXXXX# or Send Remove 0805XXXXXXX to 127.
